Bradley N. Doebbeling, MD, MSc, FACP
Center Director
Dr. Doebbeling provides overall scientific direction and leadership for the Center. A strong advocate for partnerships among health services researchers, health care managers and clinicians for creating sustainable improvement in health care delivery, Dr. Doebbeling applies the same principles of collaboration in guiding the growth and strategic evolution of the Center. He and the leadership team cultivate the Center’s research, infrastructure, and community of faculty and fellows.
Dr. Doebbeling is a health care epidemiologist whose focus on implementation illuminates the organizational, provider and patient factors that influence adoption and adherence to health systems interventions. His research then designs and implements health information technology, systems engineering, and process change tools to address them. This work has resulted in over 130 published articles, 20 book chapters, and the mentorship of more than 20 faculty and fellows.
At the University of Iowa, he developed the Graduate Training Program in Clinical Investigation, supported by NIH K12 and K30 awards. Dr. Doebbeling presently serves as Associate Director of the IU NIH K30 Clinical Investigator Training Enhancement (CITE) program, and directs VA fellowships in health services research, patient safety and informatics.
He has participated in advisory panels for IOM, NIH, CDC, NIOSH, DoD and the VA, and today is active on the Quality and Patient Care Board for Clarian Health, the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety Executive Board, the Indiana Hospital and Health Association Council on Quality and Patient Safety, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Technical Assistance Panel on Health Care Quality Benchmarking, and the Quality Management Workgroup and Decision Support Committee of the VA.
Richard L. Griffith, BSPH, MHA, CHE
Administrative Officer for Operations & Finance
Mr. Griffith is a career Health Service Administrator. He is a board-certified health care executive with a specific interest in medical ethics, strategic planning and patient safety. Mr. Griffith completed a Master of Health Administration through the US Army-Baylor University Program. He served eight years as a commissioned officer with the Air Force Medical Service Corps, first at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, then with Keesler Medical Center in Mississippi, and later stationed at Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. He completed an administrative residency in the Johns Hopkins Health System. In his role as Administrator for the Veterans Administration’s Center of Excellence in Indianapolis, Mr. Griffith plays a leading role in handling the financial, administrative, and human resources activities of the CIEBP.
Steven M. Hare, MS
Associate Director, Information Technology/Collaborations
Mr. Hare curates new collaborations for the Center and designs and oversees the information technology aspects of our active research and interventions. He was formerly Associate Vice President for IT Security and Privacy at Purdue University, where he managed the Security and Privacy organization and special initiatives. His responsibilities involved specifying and deploying software, hardware, and security policy to create a common security framework throughout the University, and he led a group of applied researchers who develop and test tools and techniques to improve practitioner solutions to information security problems. Prior to this position, Mr. Hare was Managing Director of the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) at Purdue, and Director of Information Technology for Purdue’s Krannert Graduate School of Management. He served as campus liaison to the Committee on Institutional Cooperation’s IT Security Working Group. Mr. Hare holds Master of Science degrees from Purdue University in Applied Mathematics and Industrial Engineering.
